Everybody's Got Somebody But Me.

"I hear love songs playing on the radio.
People slow dancing everywhere I go."

-Hunter Hayes.

Thanksgiving week has officially begun, everyone. Break out your pilgrim partywear and the turkey table because it's time to get the feast on. While tomorrow I head out to beautiful Florida, I can't complain about how fabulous this day was. Recap now:

1. My first official tour was given, and one mom in particular came up to me afterwards. She left me so completely happy when she said, "You did great. You gave us all the information we needed. Honestly, you did wonderful." Not to pat myself on the back or brag, but honestly, comments like this make my time seem SOOOO worth it.

2. Although I arrived sweating and breathing heavily from running with three thick layers on, being ten minutes late didn't stop me from dominating my mass media final. To my surprise (a good one, at that), I ended up scoring a solid 100. BOOM DA BOOM BOOM.

3. Writing about myself is always difficult for me. So, when it came to writing a cover letter trying to pimp out my career, it took me about three hours (give or take) to write about four paragraphs. But boy, was the time worth it. Only slight edits must be made and ba-da-bing! It's being sent off to my dream internship. Fingers crossed and prayers accepted!

4. This happened.

5. Midnight Memories by my favorite boys came out today. While I'll discuss more about the wonderful album tomorrow, I'll just give a disclaimer that the sound is amazing and their voices...ah, so proud of my lads.

Diamonds.

"Find light in the beautiful sea.
I choose to be happy."

-Rihanna.

The American Music Awards stole the choice of our Sunday night television programming. Of course, I took control and more or less forced everyone in the apartment to watch, but for lack of better words, we were entertained. I'll say it wasn't outstanding, but the Miley/cat performance was hilarious, to say the least. Sunday Six, anyone?

I've always been one to like Nicole Richie's boho look. But she switched to chic for the night, looking white-hot in a cutout gown.

Channeling your inner Angelina, much? Ke$ha surprising everyone on the carpet with this leggy yet sophisticated black gown with a ruffle accentuation.

When Ciara hit the scene, some celebrity (pardon my loss of memory) said something about her look that resonated with my state of mind as of late: "her hair is SO 90s." I agree, and I'm oooob-sessed. Looking like a young, fresh Mary J. Blige in this sheer number.
Kendall and Kylie literally just dress to the cool girl perfection everyone on Tumblr wants to look like. Kendall shows off her supermodel figure in a tight-white cutout mini with nude pumps to accentuate the leg, while Kylie proves how rad she can be in a white crop with velvet trousers and fresh fringe.

SHOUTOUT TO MY BOY, JESSE. Literally in love with this feather bowtie meets leather pant look. Still crushing hard on this kid...beautiful soul forever.

Better Together.

"There's no combination of words
I could put on the back of a postcard.
No song that I could sing,
but I could try for your heart."

-Jack Johnson.

Thursday means almost Friday, which leads to the fact that today is going pretty great. I mean, we got new candles. Gossip Girl marathon. One cover letter in the bag. The weather was gorgeous. Florida in five days. My life is on point, to say the least.

I'm going to pull an Instagram moment and say it's #TBT. Shout out to all my high school homies whom I miss oh so much. After my somewhat five-second emotional breakdown while watching the water polo final video, I realized how much I pray these next two weeks go by quickly. I need my CA bros and girls.

#GETITRIGHT.

"This is the worst coming out of me.
When I can't, felt like I could die
and it sends chills up my spine."

-Miley Cyrus.

Do I have the right to start a new weekly tradition? Well, that was rhetorical, because I'm starting it up anyways. Don't hate me 'cause you ain't me. BOOM. Here's a little thing I'd like to call...Want Wednesday. I'm going to feature an outfit or look that I am dying over. Sure, this seems like a tease for the Friday Five. But it's good to get in the fashion mood a bit earlier than normal, isn't it?

I apologize for the tacky copy and paste method, but I'm technologically challenged and this is the best I can do. Besides the point, floppy hats seems to be all the rage this fall. Or at least, many people around the South have been wearing them nonstop. It's the cutest touch to a bundled-up look, complete with a chunky knit sweater and knee-high socks. All the coziness of the cold with the accents of autumn.

This Ain't Rock and Roll.

"I'm not country, but I like it country.
I know where I'm from.
But when I hear your songs on the radio,
I start having fun."

-Steve Moakler.

Long story short: this has definitely been stuck on repeat in my head all day. Something about a singer/songwriter getting it right with what he is trying to say. I'll leave it at that for a little segment I'd like to call...Tune Tuesday.

Oh, and as of today, songwriting is back on top of my priority list. Get ready for some new lyrics coming your way this December. I'm ready to get back into what I love.

Wonderwall.

"I said maybe,
you're gonna be the one
that saves me."

-Oasis.

Coffee-filled afternoons with true friends are pure bliss. Philosophical perspectives exchanged result in the sweetest of relationships and I couldn't be more thrilled to say I have found a great friend like my girl, Nikki. I've mentioned her in a post or so, but seriously, you guys. She and I just bond on another level higher than the majority of the other people I surround myself with. And specifically, on a rather warm November afternoon for middle Tennessee, she said this and it's sticking with me. Maybe for the night, maybe for the week, maybe for the next year. But I won't forget when she said:

"It's good to be walking in the light."

It goes back to what my favorite, John Mayer, wrote a while ago. Keep yourself where the light is. Honestly, it's some of the best advice I've ever heard in a song and Nik highlighted even more so today.

We're all surviving and/or thriving in our own ways with our own paths drawn out. We may not know where we're going, but we're getting there and I hope my road leads me to the brightest of lights.

I'm just excited. Maybe it's for the fact that I leave for Florida in t-minus 7 days. (!!!!!!) Maybe it's because I finished one of my classes as of this morning. Maybe I'm just preparing myself for the near future. But it's good. Good vibes for all.

And the light will guide me home...

Glory And Gore.

"You can try and take us,
but victory's contagious."

-Lorde.

Weekends definitely need more than two days. How about we try for three-day weeks with four days off in between? I'm pretty positive the majority of people would agree this is a correct way of living life. While I catch up on the homework I haven't done for tomorrow (and will continue to put off until class) and sleeping as much as humanly possible...til 8:30 PM, here's the latest things I love:

BELMONT BEAT UNC IN MENS' BASKETBALL. WHAT A MOMENTOUS OCCASION TO PROVE OUR ATHLETICISM...and knowing typical Belmont, we had to throw some musical rendition into the mix.

This picture is completely accurate if you've never been to CA.

Tribute to a beautiful girl who sadly passed away this weekend after a long, hard battle with Hodgkins' Lymphoma. Kelcey was an incredible soul with a strong spirit. God bless Kelcey and her family. May she forever rest in peace.

Oh My God, Whatever, Etc.

"But the light of the moon
leads the way towards the morning
and the sun,
the sun's well on its way..."

-Ryan Adams.

A little bit of late night loving is on my mind. NO, not like that, for those of you dirty-minded readers. As much as my tired eyes want to be resting from the long and stressful day, I just want to hang out and lay on the floor while the good vibes playlist keeps my heartbeat alive all night long. Oh, how I long for the days of summer where staying up til 4am and pondering life's greatest questions is the norm. I guess I'll make do with our grand Christmas decor and the fact that it's...FRIDAY FIVE.

If you haven't picked up on it yet, I'm an addict to the waist-tied shirt trend. Bringing back the best of the 90s with a chic touch of grunge. A little flannel never killed nobody...?

Safari-style coats with leather sleeves are on the top of my fashion priority list. Instantly updating the military trend with a dose of bad-chick adds the sophistication of rad up to a whole new level.

I saw this look as of five hours ago and it's making me homesick for the West Coast sunsets and beach bonfires. Nothing draws me in more than a sick snapback and the classic pair of kicks. (Got my Vans on but they look like sneakers...say whaaa.)

Ah, how the basics of one's closet mesh together in perfect style harmony. Chambray and beanies for the win, you guys. Start up the slow clap for the cool girl.

Fall is quickly descending into the colder months, but I've heard so many rumors about pink being the hot color for autumn. Never have I ever been a girl to pick a pink piece, but I'll make an exception due to the fact her Converse look tight.

Next To Me.

"You won't find him
trying to chase the devil
for money, fame,
for power, out of greed."

-Emeli Sande.

As I scare my brains out while watching American Horror Story and anxiously await to edit my latest news article, I'll browse Forever 21 to create my wish list for the colder months ahead. Ah, the days of overcoats and endless layers. Here are some of my latest cravings in fashion.

Leather leggings: A must have to add the edgy twist to any outfit. These high-waisted ones cover up just enough midriff to add a crop top and simple heels to the mix.

Sneaker wedges: I've been skeptical about these, but over the past few months of debating with myself (oh, the awkward agony), I've grown so attached to these kicks. You can channel your Kanye through them.

Leather-sleeved utility jacket: army green is the perfect transition shade for fall to winter. The masculine shape of this coat transforms to a cool statement piece over girly dresses or ripped tights. A definite must.

Jumpsuit: One-piece outfits are my THING. Anytime I can throw on one thing and go, it's going to be a good look. This pantsuit is sleek and classy, perfect for any formal festivities on the agenda.

Dropwaist dress: Shift dresses are all the rage right now. Adding the element of a sophisticated 20s girl is the perfect way to combine all elements of chic.

I'll Be.

"I'll be your crying shoulder.
I'll be love's suicide.
I'll be better when I'm older.
I'll be the greatest fan of your life."

-Edwin McCain.

Two weeks, everyone. My break (well, my self-proclaimed winter break) begins in literally two weeks from this moment right now. The time where I'll be rolling up to the white sand shores of beautiful, panhandle Florida with one of the sweetest. Life just sometimes seems too good to be true.

Reminding me of these soon-to-be great moments was the scene in "A Cinderella Story" where Hilary Duff and Chad Michael Murray (swoon, much) are having their rendezvous in the courtyard. It was then I truly had an epiphany: these little dances we have are so magnificent. Sure, she may have been in my dream princess wedding dress, but Hilary Duff was just too stunning for words and we all have those times every once in a while. By no means do I get to look like a white, sparkling cupcake soon, but I do get to be living my own dream. Ah, the beach brings such good vibes. But for now, let's just take a moment to revel in the beauty of this cheesy movie scene.

Here Comes The Sun.

"Little darling,
the smiles returning to the faces.
Little darling,
it seems like years since it's been here."

-The Beatles.

Autumn. It's not my favorite season, but boy, do I love the spirit of it all. Fallen leaves, crisp morning air, pumpkin flavored everything, steamed apple cider, the anticipation of the holidays. Most importantly, the giving of thanks and the making of memories with the family you choose.

I spent a weekend away in the middle of nowhere Tennessee. No cell phone service, no streetlights, no neighbors, no Internet. It was all about fires, chili, board games, blankets, star gazing and beautiful friends. I am so beyond thankful for where I am and it's only the start of the festivities.

Welcome to November, everyone.

Autumn leaves falling down like pieces into place...

Lake loving.

Hemlock Haven. Home away from home.

The Mountain Men.

Love you all.

Creator.

"Me, I'm a creator.
Thrill is to make it up.
The rules I break
got me a place."

-Santigold.

I promised you the best of Friday Fives. I mean, it has been a while. Seven days...shoot, life just keeps moving on, doesn't it? Let's go, fellow bloggers:

The easy pieces of this look make it do-able yet very much so fashion forward. Throw on a quick crop top and balance it with a banging bootie and you're on board.

This whole 90s trend of the shirt-around-the-waist has stolen all of my love and attention as of late. The black monochrome gets shaken up by the chambray shirt belt, but still keeps its radness all around.

Kylie Jenner seems to be my fashion icon recently. (Well, Kanye West and Alexa Chung are up there too, don't get me wrong.) Her black cropped perfection is off-set by the heavy leather jacket and adds the perfect touch of masculinity to this all-black ensemble.

The California in me makes me 'oooh' and 'aahhh' over the whole tank top and cutoffs vibe. Eagerly awaiting the beach days where the only layers I need to keep warm will be the added kicks and sick beanie. Gnarly, bro.

#TBF? Pulling a old school, long haired Miley look. Back in the days of her floor-duster sweaters and bohemian-style wrap scarves. Oh, the sweet sorrow of nostalgia in fashion.

Feel Again.

"But with you,
I can feel again."

-OneRepublic.

Too many good things on the rise, people. Never have I ever felt so blessed for the opportunities I have been given recently. Maybe it's just my over-achieving self that applies myself whole-heartedly to all these doors opening, but it feels right. Everything's going good. And things are...well, spectacular.

I can't spill too many details because it freaks me out and I like my private life on the down low. But let's just leave it at...I'm soooooooo excited.

Looking very much forward to tomorrow's Friday Five. A lot of inspiration in my veins and I just want tell the world my new fashion admirations. Ah, can't wait, y'all.

Round Here.

"Twist off, sip a little,
pass it around,
dance in the dust,
turn the radio up."

-Florida Georgia Line.

While I literally hear the soundcheck of CMA rehearsals from my partial city-view apartment, I can't help but get my hopes for the hottest looks on this year's CMA Red Carpet. I'm a kid at a candy store when it comes to analyzing event fashions, especially when the Nashville connection is oh so strong. Excuse my fangirling over Kacey Musgraves and Miranda Lambert, but country music's night of the year is definitely one for the books.

Well, HELLO, Kellie Pickler. Looking drop dead gorgeous is a black, old Hollywood inspired number by Georges Chakra. Never looked better, girl!

Carrie Underwood is always a stunner on the carpet, no matter the event. Not the slightest bit disappointed in this sheer and glittered gown.

Can we just all agree that everyone looked gorgeous tonight?! Kimberly Perry setting another white-hot example of how pretty an embroidered floral dress can look anywhere. Beautiful and delicate.

Miranda Lambert, you got everything so right, it's...wrong! Just kidding. But this sparkling, royal blue gown makes you look TOO GOOD. That plunging neckline...icing on the cake. I applaud you in full.

My final choice is unavailable online right now due to the fact it wasn't a pre-show dress. But Kacey Musgraves shined in her flirty neon yellow cocktail dress. Breaking the boundaries of the Bible Belt sound.

The Underdog.

"I want to forget how conviction fits.
But can I get out from under it?"

-Spoon.

Christmas seems to be quickly approaching. Yeah, Thanksgiving has to pass and God forbid we forget the all-time great shopping extravaganza we know, Black Friday. But all I can think about is the smell of Douglas Firs and the late night caroling. Christmas isn't just a holiday for me either; it represents a break in the school year and chance to go home for a little while. Don't we all need that touch of paradise every once in a while? I'm thinking about starting a mini-Christmas bucket list for the holidays. Just a few ideas up my sleeve for this festive season:

1. Getting a fresh, hand-cut Christmas tree from a farm. Surely, California won't be as snowy, but I'll be bundling up with my family to drink some hot cider while my dad gets frustrated more often than not while trying to saw it down.

2. Go to Disneyland for the holiday decorations. Literally, my favorite thing about Disneyland is how pretty it looks all the time...especially during Christmas. Maybe a road trip to Anaheim is in order...

3. Baking (and eating...whoops) all the Christmas cookies I can imagine. Santa's gotta eat, too, you know!

4. Gingerbread house building. This is literally the peak of every Christmas holiday. I'm not kidding. Gingerbread houses make my heart so happy and they look so cute! My festive obsession.

5. Salvation Army bell ringer donations. No wait, I lied. THIS is my absolute favorite part of the holiday season. Nothing makes me feel more selfless than dropping my grocery store change into these buckets. I literally have to do it every time I see one of these because it's just too good to be true. Definitely the highlight without a doubt.

Story Of My Life.

"Written on these walls
are the stories that I can't explain.
I leave my heart open,
but it stays right here empty for days."

-One Direction.

I'm such a proud Directioner. That sounds super lame, but I'm not ashamed for my love of the boys. They make fun music and their personalities make me wish I could be best friends with every one of them. They are just those idiots who just so happen to be famous for being on a reality singing show. Honestly, I don't believe their image is a gimmick and they aren't around just to make money. They genuinely love what they do and love each other every step of the way.

This music video made my heart swell full of emotions just because even though I'm not in the exact same position, I get what it's going for. I know the feeling of leaving your old life behind and going out into the world on your own. I know the heartache of homesickness and traveling thousands of miles away from the people you love. I understand how much growing up is a process (and one I don't enjoy, if I may say so myself).

Here's the video that makes me reflect. Reflect on where I've been. Where they've been. And where we're all going. Different paths, but all toward the future.

That's My Kind Of Night.

"Catch us up a little catfish dinner.
Gonna sound like a winner, when I
lay you down and love you right."

-Luke Bryan.

Oops, I did it again. I forgot the Friday Five. Why am I such a flake? It's quite irritating if you ask me. Sunday Six sound okay? Well, great. Here we go.

The simplicity of this fall/winter looks so chic. A crisp white tee and boyfriend jeans are classic staples one should always trust.

Beautiful. Completely beautiful. The hair, the makeup, the dress. It's just all absolutely STUNNING.

Leather and Chucks make this girl happy. All black is just icing on the cake of this ensemble.

Maybe it's just the tomboy in me, but those kicks and that Yankee snapback got me like...Woah. Too much rad, too little time.

These somewhat Amish hats seem to be so in right now and I have such a huge desire to wear one. The mix between the topper and blazer give the masculine twist on this rather girly romper.

Flannel? Check. Leather? Check. Oversized sweater? Check. All my fall favorites in one cool look. Obsessed.
