Blankets In The Grass.

"I know
we are all afraid
to be alone,
so we go home."

-Balance Problems.

A post before the sun goes down? What?! What is going on?!?!?!?!

Well, it's not the apocalypse. It's just that, well, SPRING BREAK 2K14 begins in t-minus 5.5 hours and I'm so stoked. You have no idea how long I've been waiting for this moment. Like it's absolutely insane to think we're halfway through the semester and I feel as if it just started yesterday...woah.

I'm almost done with sophomore year.

Woah.

I'm almost a junior in college.

Woah.

I'm almost halfway done with college.

WHERE DOES TIME GO? WHAT DO THEY DO WITH IT.

Before I lead you to believe I'm going insane, here's the kicker: as of Spring Break, I'm focusing on the now. I am beyond excited to spend the next ten days with family and friends at home and that's my focus. To carry it over to college life will be difficult, but I think if I take things day by day, it'll be okay.

Living in the moment. Cliche, but real.

So as I write this post about actually feeling what's going on right now, I'm going to soak it all in. Remember the fact I'm listening to my favorite acoustic songs. Think about the frigid yet sunny day outside. Love how I feel excited and happy and carefree right now.

Those are the important things.

Do I Wanna Know?

"Baby, we both know
that the nights were made
for saying things you can't say
tomorrow day."

-Arctic Monkeys.

Pinning...! It's back, my friends, after a long hiatus.

I'm going home within the next couple days and in celebration of the warm weather and California cool, this outfit with most likely be my uniform for the week. Flannels and Converse? My pleasure. Throw in some cutoffs and boom. You have me hooked. Get ready, CA, for this rad look to hit your coast.

I'm Ready.

"Can you tell me when you're stoked to start?
Are you ready for tonight, setting it on fire
and we'll dance until we're dumb in the dark."

-AJR.

Tune to the Tuesday. What is up. But I'm tired and it's been a long day. So to make a long story short, here's what's been playing in our apartment for the past three weeks straight. Not even joking one bit.

The Colder Months.

"I don't know if I love you yet,
but I like you."

-Liza Anne.

Thrift stores and iced coffees and release shows, oh my. My Friday escalated from doing laundry and editing cover letters to event jumping. I mean, caffeine and pizza grease is flowing through my veins and black x marks are drawn upon my hands. This Friday proved how much love my friends give me and how in love I am with my friends. Wow, life is sweet.

Some Friday Five, shall we now?

Ripped jeans have been my crutch lately. Baggy and worn-out are the best kinds of pants and Kylie Jenner looks like the cool girl in school with her Chucks and crop top in tow.

AH I WISH I WAS RAD ENOUGH FOR MENSWEAR AND LEOPARD KICKS. SO, SO RAD.

Lanvin killin' it with the capes, man. I love me a good cape. Super classy and always in style. Especially with the all-black ensemble to match.

Boyfriend jeans? Check. Long, oversized coat? Check. Simplistic heels? Check. Love how easy this outfit seems, yet really styled so forward.

Leather sweater weather. Ba-boom.

Replay.

"Feel it all,
feel it all crashing down.
I'm so lost.
I'm so lost in your sound."

-Zendaya.

Have you ever gone snowboarding in 70-degree weather? Well, neither had I. Until my roommate and I decided to ditch school for the day to head up to the Tennessee slopes. Despite the slush and ice, I guess you could say things went smooth. I mean, also considering I hadn't snowboarded in over two years. Sure, I fell from time to time, but they even fall in the Olympics. So...WHAT NOW.

Future Olympians right here.

Ski lifts for days.

Oh, hey Gatlinburg.

Ober?

Creeper.

KB squared. Also, channeling Miley somehow...(what's up with my tongue.)

What's My Name.

"So I surrender
to every word you whisper,
to every door you enter,
I will let you in."

-Rihanna & Drake.

Tune Tuesday is a throwback and one of my favorites, if I do say so myself! I still remember how obsessed I was with this song in high school and when it came on the radio this afternoon, I literally flipped. Taking it back to the days of red-haired Rihanna and Drizzy Drake.

Something That We're Not.

"You wanna be more than just friends.
I can't go through this again.
Stop trying to get inside my head."

-Demi Lovato.

Tea and a good friend always make life seem a bit sweeter. Even on the busiest of days, a little bit of chai and a lotta bit of talking makes everything just slow down. It's incredible for me to have these times with all of my friends because I swear, all of them are the greatest insights in my life. Today, as I sat in a rustic, cozy bedroom, my friend Shannon said...

"Sometimes, people are here for a season. And then they leave. They may come back and they may not. But that's when you know it's okay. Because it's all a season."

Although it's hard to hear, it's BEYOND true. You win some and you lose some. Friendships don't always stay the same. And it sucks. It totally sucks. But the sweetest thing to know is to have new friends, but save the others.

Yeah, I'm a firm believer in gold and silver friendships. They matter. And they change you. Just like seasons. Some are better, some are awful. But they change.

Right now, I may hate my classes. I may hate the weather. (Okay, it was actually wonderful out today, so scratch that.) I may just be counting down the days until summer. But this season, my friends are the greatest. Including Shannon and all that she is.

Gotta love me some Monday afternoon tea times.

Happy.

"Clap along if you feel
like a room without a roof.
Because I'm happy..."

-Pharrell.

The Nashville temps reached 50 degrees and beautifully sunny today. Boy, have I never been more excited to call below 70s warm weather. Spring, I can feel you coming on. Praying that it's sooner rather than later.

I've decided I'm going to start a random feature on the blog involving Pinterest. I've stolen from this site for Friday Fives to recipes to diet plans. It's just an essential in order for my life to run smoothly. The segment, which will appear weekly but on different days, will be called Pinning...(I'm so original, eh. LAWLZ.) But actually, when I say it, I'm channeling tiger blood Charlie Sheen saying winning. So what now.

Today's Pinning closes in on one of my faves, Miss Karlie Kloss. Ever so elegant yet edgy, Karlie takes to the streets during NYFW to prove that she got cred. Mad respect for a VS Angel in a letterman and beanie.

Blood.

"And you'll find somebody you can blame.
And you'll follow the creek that runs out into the sea.
And you'll find the peace of the Lord."

-The Middle East.

Tune Tuesday brings one of the best songs I've heard in a while. It played during my coffee date with Nikki the other day and I'm obsessed with the vibes it gives off. Take a listen for yourself and get filled with hipster acoustic happiness.

P.S. I am fully aware that it's Saturday and I totally missed the mark on this one by a long shot. But this song is way too good to hold back. And I kinda need something like this in my life to lift my spirits up.

Run The World (Girls).

"Who runs the world?
Girls."

-Beyonce.

Happy Galentines Day. No, I don't watch Parks and Recreation, but I surely believe in the celebration of this made-up holiday. I'm not a bitter girl who gets mad over Valentines Day by no means. But it's nice to have an excuse of a day (or night, by those means) to hang out with some of the bests.

Don't Dream It's Over.

"Hey now, hey now.
Don't dream it's over.
Hey now, hey now.
When the world comes in..."

-Crowded House.

A little throwback for this chilly Monday. Continuing on, however, with the MBFW season. Best looks of the day:

So simple and so chic, Carolina Herrera's line brings the elements of velvet, fur and pops of color to the mix. This grey coat/dress combo is the best business.

Ski bunny, meet hipster plaid. Tommy Hilfiger meshed knit beanies with grungy patterns and a pinch of cute snow angel. One of the many looks I am dying over...

And another...

One more.

Spring continues onto fall in the Noon by Noor collection. Twists of lilacs and yellows cover the runways with sprinkles of flower detailing thrown in as well. Oversized coats and knits keep the chilly vibe in tact.

Channeling the vibes of Mad Men and mod glamour, Zac Posen runs the fashion world. Literally, my favorite collection during this week so far. Too many beautiful looks, too little blogging time.

Lupita Nyongo, please wear this to the Oscars. Thank you.

For goodness sake, this Zac Posen look could be out of a vintage Chanel ad. Audrey Hepburn meets Anna Wintour.

What's black and white and red all over? If you add caramel to the list, you got Donna Karan's Fall 2014 line. And this devilish dress...to die for.

Up All Night.

"I'm about whatever, man.
Forget what they be talking about.
They opinion doesn't count.
We the only thing that matters."

-Drake & Nicki Minaj.

I love new, cool coffee shops. If you agree, Nashville is the city for you to explore. I've probably been to 10 around here and that makes up about...I don't know...1/20 of the entire city. You can throw a brick and boom...you got a new cafe.

Today's pick? JJ's Market and Cafe.

The rundown corner joint is half-liquor store and half-coffee place. With torn-up thrift store couches to a tall bookshelf filled with titles from 50 Shades of Grey to the Bible (small world, eh?), this place could serve as the chillest hangout spot in Midtown. Plus, the coffee I ordered had the name, "Studying Nietzche". Am I hipster enough yet?

Anyways, MBFW Fall/Winter 2014 continues on. Or, like, I guess you could call them the Fashion Olympics 2014. Whatever floats your boat. More rad looks from today's NYC shows:

Knee-high leather boots? Check. Oversized collars? Check. Boxy minis? Check. Alexander Wang doing what he does best in his F/W 2014 collection.

Bow down to Victoria Beckham. Her F/W collection does no wrong and this snow white shirt dress with a loose, chainlink belt proves minimalism is here to stay.

Diane von Furstenberg just understands the true meaning of being a powerful woman in love with fashion. Her collection, full of pretty patterns and colorful confections, accentuates the best of a woman's curves while keeping it classy. This mixed prints combo reads black and white and CUTE all over.

Never heard of David Tlale, but I'm SOOO glad I have now. Victorian patterns and feminine frocks ruled his runway. The last look was my favorite--office chic meets New York sophistication in an off-white puffy-sleeved blouse and a textured pencil skirt.

Trend alert: patterns. AND LOTS OF THEM. Vivienne Tam's line followed suit with earth tone prints all over the runway. This navy, paint splattered dress + tights combo is the perfect amount of prints gone wild.

Bulletproof.

"I won't let you turn around
and tell me now I'm much too proud
to walk away from something
when it's dead."

-La Roux.

I liked today. It was a brief reminder that even the worst of weeks can be cured with love and laughter. This next week could continue to be hell, but today brought me back to the happy person I want to be.

MBFW Fall/Winter 2014 Day Three. My favorite day of designs yet. My picks, courtesy of Vogue:

Greys and tulle and chunky knits...oh my! Prabal Gurung mixes the best of both worlds, creating the cool, pretty girl look.

Holy slit. Ruby red hot on the runway and I ain't even mad. Just a little crazy in love over this turtleneck-gown confection by Gurung.

Be still, my menswear-obsessed heart! Lacoste killin' it in the womens' department with the oversized charcoal suit look. Love me a good suit.

So, some people say crop tops are on the out. Umm...no. My odd obsession with the exposed midriff will not die. And this two-piece Herve Leger by Max Azria look has patterns and textures in all the right places. Yes, please.

Jumpsuits for the win. Mara Hoffman's African-inspired line filled the runway with exotic prints, but this black monochrone pantsuit is pure perfection. Gold armbands and all.

Too much good, too little time. And who said you can't work white after Labor Day? Jill Stuart running Day Three with this angelic and sparkly confection. The girly girl in me is showing.

Sex.

"Yeah, my shirt looks so good
when it's just hanging off your back."

-The 1975.

Friday Five. What is up. Time to crack it down. MBFW Fall/Winter 2014 is happening right now. Here are my favorite looks of the past couple days:

BCBGMaxAzria filled the runway with furs and fuzz. This black-and-white ensemble looks comfy cozy for next year's fall season. Especially that somewhat-turtleneck sweater. Love me a huge sweater.

Jason Wu, you rule. Literally his fall/winter line has me fawning over the simplicity of blacks and greys. This dress better be someone's choice for the Oscars. Please, please, please.

This coat. I just...I just can't even. Too much good.

Cushnie et Ochs pushes the boundaries in all the right ways. Leather and lace are classically cool. This look = so Madonna.

Maybe it's my craving for cutoffs. Maybe it's my withdrawal from anything showing skin. Maybe it's the menswear-inspired blazer. But this Rag & Bone look is KILLING it.

Ghost.

"You've got me chasing
promises on the horizon.
They come and go,
all these visions come and go."

-Chelsea Lankes.

Tune Tuesday is here and literally, this post is the highlight of my day. Shows you how excited I am for school right now. Especially when I think I'm doing some of my greatest work and/or thinking and I do WAY worse than the actual confidence I have about it. Key point: confidence is a complete lie.

Back to the main segment. I've been really into this electro-pop sorta stuff going on. Ellie Goulding is killin' it for me. Lorde is a fave. And Chelsea Lankes pulls it out with this slowed-down jam. Check out the Tune for the week and her sick music video all in one:

Save Me.

"I drove for miles
just to find you
and find myself."

-Nicki Minaj.

Flashback to the late nights where this song stayed on repeat for hours. Sure, Nick Minaj isn't your typical slow jam artist, but this one is a keeper.

Lately, I've been reminiscing the high school years where it became the norm for me to be up past 1am. And music always hung around with me. Whether it be this jam or some James Morrison or even Parachute, everything just kinda stopped when those perfect songs came on. It was the most eerie sense of calm to know the melody was haunting me in the wee hours of the morning. But I love those songs for that.

They'll never leave me and boy, I will never leave them.

Give It Away.

"Give it away,
give it away,
give it away,
give it away now."

-Red Hot Chili Peppers.

This song pretty much represents the embarrassment I like to call the Super Bowl. I don't think a football game has ever been so...uneventful? I mean, Broncos defense SUCKED. It was over before the opera singer did the National Anthem. The best part? The tweets on my newsfeed. Here are some of the ones that made me cry from laughing (and sadness for picking the Broncos for the ring):
